Thomas Essl
The baritone Thomas Essl from Graz got his first music lesson at the age of 4 years on the recorder. Then, from the age of 10, trumpet and piano, later singing lessons.
After school, study of the trumpet in Graz, as well as jazz piano at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory in Graz. In addition to studying musicology at the Karl Franzens University in Graz and at the University of Music Graz. First as a trumpeter in various orchestras in Germany and abroad as well as a soloist. Then vocal training with Susanne Kopeinig and Prof. Claudia Rüggeberg in Graz, as well as existing cooperation with Maris Skuja at the Graz Opera.
Masterclasses with Prof. Karlheinz Hanser, Christa Ludwig, Natela Nicoli, Eteri Lamoris, Thomas Hampson and Brigitte Fassbaender. Performances as a soloist in Austria, Germany, Italy
and Switzerland. Lieder recitals in Styria. Acting lessons with Chris Pichler in Vienna.
2016 appearance as a falcon in the bat at the Stadttheater Leoben, as well as appearances in gala concerts with excerpts from opera and operetta.
May 2018 Malatesta at Opera Nova in Sofia (Bulgaria).
In 2019, the young baritone will sing concerts with Brahms and Marx songs in Riga, combined with a recording session for the local radio station. Oratorios and Masses in Graz and Vienna
by J. S. Bach, Mozart and Haydn.
